The Impact of Alcohol Use Disorder on Sleep Health

This case-based discussion will explore the complex, bidirectional relationship between sleep and alcohol use, highlighting how sleep problems can contribute to alcohol misuse and recovery challenges. Participants will examine the prevalence and impact of insomnia and other sleep disturbances in AUD, review the evidence supporting cognitive behavioral and pharmacological treatment approaches, and discuss practical strategies for addressing co-occurring sleep and alcohol-related concerns. By the end of the session, attendees will be better equipped to recognize sleep-related issues in this population and identify effective treatment options to support recovery and overall well-being. This event is available for 1 NAADAC Credit.
