Catalyzing Change: Effective Psychotherapy Modalities for Alcohol Use Disorder Treatment

This case-based discussion will provide an overview of evidence-supported therapeutic approaches, including motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, contingency management, trauma-informed interventions, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Participants will explore how experiential avoidance can contribute to ongoing alcohol-related challenges and consider strategies for enhancing motivation, engagement, and behavior change. The session will also examine the complementary roles of medications for alcohol use disorder (MAUD) and psychotherapy in supporting recovery goals. This event is available for 1 NAADAC Credit.
