This webinar will explore the effect of alcohol use disorder (AUD) and neurologic health, highlighting both acute and chronic complications associated with alcohol misuse. Participants will learn to recognize, diagnose, and manage critical neurologic conditions including Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, alcohol withdrawal seizures, delirium tremens, and hepatic encephalopathy, with an emphasis on identifying reversible causes and evidence-based treatment approaches. The session will also examine the long-term neurologic consequences of AUD, such as peripheral neuropathy and cerebellar degeneration, and discuss the appropriate use of medications for alcohol use disorder (MAUD), including important limitations, precautions, and clinical considerations when caring for patients with co-occurring neurologic conditions. This training is available for 1 CE credit.
